What Is Iridology

What Is Iridology

Iridology is the science and practice of analyzing the iris, the most complex external structure of the human anatomy. The iris is connected to every organ and tissue of the body through the brain and nervous system. It is in direct contact with the body's bio-energetic, biochemical, structural, hormonal, and metabolic processes via the nerves, blood vessels, muscle fibers, and lymph. Iridology is expanding rapidly as it is becoming known as a valuable tool for preventive healthcare. Holistically, it is used to accurately assess the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual patterns and weaknesses for complete health analysis. It is completely painless, non-invasive, and economically viable while providing valuable therapeutic and preventive health care information.

Most Iridologists also incorporate the study of Sclerology into their assessments. Sclerology is the study of the whites of the eyes as they relate to the person's health. Interpreting the red lines, colorations, and markings in the sclera are closely associated with the present pathology of the body. This is based on the twelve meridians and each meridian's yin and yang aspect. The Chinese saw the lines in the sclera as a reflection of the lymphatic fluid which bathes every cell concerning the principles of acupuncture. This principle concludes that imbalances in the meridian energy register in the sclera. Native American Indians also analyzed the eyes to understand better the stresses affecting a person's health.

What Is Royal Jelly?

What Is Royal Jelly?

What's all the buzz about royal jelly, and is this popular supplement right for you?

Royal jelly, also known as gelee, is a thick gelatinous milky white substance secreted from glands near the head of nurse worker bees and fed to the hives queen from her larval stages and into adulthood. Its sole purpose is to stimulate her growth and development. It seems that the royal jelly acts on the juvenile hormones in the developing queen's body, allowing her to mature while the drones, which aren't given royal jelly, remain in a state of physical immaturity. A hive queen can live up to seven years, but without her special diet of royal jelly, the queen would have had the same short life cycle as any other worker bee, seven to eight weeks.

The Ancient Egyptians kept bees as far back as 5,500 B.C., and royal jelly has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries and still is today.

Why Detox?

Why Detox?

For most of my life, I considered myself relatively healthy. I was not overweight, very slim. I usually ate two to three meals per day, not many junky-type foods, so I thought. I was about to learn the hard way that my lifestyle and eating habits were not healthy at all.

Like most of North America's diet, my diet was a lot of processed food, soda, drinks, not real juice but artificial sugary drinks, fast food, and lots of fat! I also smoked two packs a day of menthol cigarettes. I also became less active as time went on.

I considered my lifestyle and eating habits perfectly normal. This is how I observed most people living their life. I did not realize all the dyes, preservatives, and hydrogenated oils I was consuming, not to mention exhaust fumes, solvents, chemicals, pesticides, and heavy metals in our environment.

We spray our homes with chemicals to kill off nasty little critters. We put chlorine in our pools, and we can't go out at any time without being exposed to the exhaust fumes from cars, planes, etc. We walk outside on the grass that has just been sprayed with more chemicals.

5 Easy Ways to Lift the Spirit

5 Easy Ways to Lift the Spirit

What to do?

Luckily for me, there's always been that curiosity about what's out there in the alternative world, including the alternative therapies. I've tried many of them over the years and will continue to do so, all in the hope I can make things better for my body, mind, and spirit. And it has.

I'm aware that what may work for me may not work for someone else, so the message is to keep trying until you find something that will suit your needs.

Many times I've been told they've tried everything. What is everything? What it boiled down to, you could count on one hand. It's worthwhile to keep searching; you may find that your world expands most, especially by making new friendships (I have) and picking up valuable skills for your self-healing toolkit.

So what do I do when I've reached a cross-road and need some direction or could do with some healing?

What is the Glycemic Index?

What is the Glycemic Index?

Over the last 30 years, research into food and blood glucose response has completely changed our carbohydrate classification system.

It has been learned that it is impossible to predict the impact on blood glucose levels by certain foods; instead, people are fed carbohydrate foods, and the response is measured.

This response is known as the Glycemic Index (GI), it is a measure of how quickly carbohydrate foods are digested and absorbed and ranks carbohydrate foods according to their impact on blood sugar (glucose) levels: as indicted by elevated

blood glucose.

Foods with a high GI are absorbed quickly into the bloodstream and cause a rapid rise in blood glucose levels. At the same time, foods with a low GI are broken down more slowly over time and keep blood glucose levels more stable (Remember that low is slow!).

What To Eat To Boost Your Memory

What To Eat To Boost Your Memory

Being aware of the nutritional value of our foods is essential to a healthy body. Eating the right combination of carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats keeps muscles strong and organs functioning the way nature intended.

Our minds are no different, and eating foods rich in particular nutrients can help alleviate brain fog and boost our memories back to the place they were when we were younger. It only seems natural that since most of our body is fueled by the healthiest of foods, feeding our minds the same way follows suit.

There has been extensive research done into studying the effects of certain minerals and vitamins on brain function. It’s common sense that sugar, although a temporary stimulant, quickly loses its luster, and although we might feel very vibrant and alive after eating a candy bar, within an hour or two, our bodies have become sluggish and less responsive. Therefore, our minds and memories would feel the same high and crashing low if fed a diet of sweets.

What You Need To Know About Vegetarianism

What You Need To Know About Vegetarianism

Living healthy requires maintaining a healthy diet. No diet may be more beneficial than meals dominated by fresh, all-natural vegetables and fruits.

Lately, more and more people have shifted to vegetarian meals because scientific research has demonstrated the adverse effects of animal meat.

Nutritionists explain that the high amount of animal fat present in meat, dairy, and other animal products may be probable factors leading to the onset of diabetes mellitus, obesity, colorectal cancer, high blood pressure, and coronary artery disease.

To avoid these diseases, nutritionists have long expounded on the health benefits of a high intake of fruits and vegetables.

However, people generally have many misconceptions about vegetarianism or the practice of eating foods from the plant kingdom.

What You Must Know About Flax Seeds!

What You Must Know About Flax Seeds!

Fish oil versus Flaxseed oil

What is your opinion on fish oil supplements, and why not just take flaxseed oil since it has omega 3s? How much is needed to take daily?

The answer is straightforward. There are several Omega 3 fatty acids. They are named ALA (alpha linolenic acid ), EPA (eicosapentanoic acid) and DHA (docosahexanoic acid). ALA is found in flaxseed oil, whereas EPA and DHA are found in fish oils. ALA can convert into EPA and then into DHA, but this takes several enzymatic steps in the body. Not everyone efficiently converts ALA into EPA and DHA, particularly with aging.

Lignans are a type of fiber and, at the same time, a kind of phytoestrogen chemical similar to the human hormone estrogen. Flaxseeds are the richest source of lignans. When you eat lignans, bacteria in the digestive tract convert them into estrogen-like substances called enterodiol and enterolactone, which are thought to have anti-tumor effects. Lignans and other flaxseed components may also have antioxidant properties; that is, they may reduce the activity of cell-damaging free radicals.

7 Reasons Why You Should Be Using Coconut Oil

7 Reasons Why You Should Be Using Coconut Oil

It is a common misconception that coconut oil is bad for you. People worldwide are experiencing the healthy benefits of using coconut oil. It is one of the most beneficial oils you can consume. Here are the top seven reasons you should use coconut oil as an alternative to other common cooking oils.

1. Coconut oil doesn't turn to fat in your body.

Unlike many other common oils, like soy (vegetable) and corn, coconut oil won't make you fat. Coconut oil contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), an easy fuel for the body to burn without turning to fat. Most other cooking oils and fats contain long-chain triglycerides (LCT). LCT's are usually stored as fat. Since coconut oil is an MCT, it is more easily absorbed and converted to energy quicker.

For centuries, people in the tropics have relied on coconuts as a traditional staple in their diet. They consume large amounts of coconut oil every day. Instead of getting fatter, it helps them stay healthy, lean, and trim. When they switch from coconut oil to our modern oils, they develop obesity and the health problems that our modern society faces.

Your Diet And Nutrition Are You An Emotional Eater?

Your Diet And Nutrition Are You An Emotional Eater?

Emotional eating. Many people suffer from the same eating problems, but there is one that stands out among those eating issues. For most people, it is the leading cause of abnormal weight gain, as you end up compensating for your emotional distress by sitting down for a large snack. This is fine once in a while, but do it too often, and you will find it hard to lose any weight.

Every time you eat anything, you need to write down your state of mind in your food journal. Were you feeling tired, upset, depressed, happy, or energetic? Just writing a few words about how you felt when you decided to eat can make a world of difference when it comes time to analyze your eating behaviors.

A Gold Medal in Love

A Gold Medal in Love

Five-time gold medal-winning figure skater, Jenny Kilmer, has won the women's Olympics since she was 16. At 36, she is attempting to win her sixth straight gold medal. Kilmer has been blessed with such fame and fortune with sporting equipment endorsements and TV contracts. She has gotten everything that he has set out to get, except for one thing: love.

Love is what has been eluding her. She has had many relationships, but none have transpired into anything beyond just a relationship. Her latest relationship with Scott seemed to be destined for the same scenario.

Since two years old, Jennys life has been all about skating. Her intensive training has paid off professionally because of her gold medals, but personally, even her trainer, Yon, cannot stand around her. It was five days until the Women's Olympic medal competition.

There Inspirations for Happiness

There Inspirations for Happiness

The following three inspirations were adapted from A Daily Dose of Happiness, and they represent three key ways to increase our happiness.

1. FORGIVING FOR HAPPINESS

We like to think we are better than our friends below us in the food chain, like the octopus and the snail. After all, we have love. We feel happy. We have empathy. We have a conscience. We can reason.

We can also hold onto grudges.

Grudges are, in fact, prickly little creatures that worm their way into our hearts. Holding onto them is a self-defeating exercise.

Fortunately, forgiveness is also uniquely human. Forgiveness cleanses the spirit. Forgiveness lets us get on with enjoying our lives instead of being preoccupied with someone else’s. Forgiveness opens the door to happiness.

Understanding Your Dreams

Understanding Your Dreams

The meaning of dreams has been of interest to humanity throughout history. Dreams come to us in various forms that range from frightening to erotic. We experience images, sounds, sensations, and voices in our dreams that we cannot influence or control. Do our dreams have special meanings? Are they brought on by incidents that have affected our lives today or possibly sometime in the past?

There are many theories on why we dream, where dreams originate, or even why dreams occur in the brain. It is not clear what the neurological cause is or what phase of sleep dreaming occurs. Many believe dreams are reflections of the unconscious, and some are predictions of the future or even messages from God. Some have interpreted many dreams of a bizarre nature as divine gifts, letters from the past, or predictions of the future. Dreams often inspire artistic and other forms of inspiration.

According to most scientists, dreams occur with equal frequency in most people. The ability to recall the dream varies significantly with individuals, however. Most goals, it is believed, occur during (REM) sleep, which is a form of sleep experienced in the latter portion of the sleep cycle.

Use The Power Of Your Thoughts

Use The Power Of Your Thoughts

The most incredible power we ever got is the power of our thoughts.

An Intelligence inside us can elevate our life at the highest level.

Everyone should learn to collaborate with this Intelligence which is organized to react to our intentions and create a life of abundance and happiness.

Freedom, happiness, richness, love, friendship, health, and wealth are our birthright.

We have been created to live our lives in freedom, health, and wealth. If our life doesn't look like that, it means we block ourselves from our thoughts. Our thoughts are potent instruments to create happiness and wealth or sickness and poverty.

If your life doesn't look like what you're dreaming of, it means you have thoughts that go against you. Your thoughts create your life. If you want to change your life, change first your thoughts.

You can choose your thoughts. Nobody in the world can put an idea in your head without your permission. Your mind belongs to you! It's your job to control your thoughts! You are the master of your head; you are the guardian of your thoughts. You can change them. Choose those thoughts that will bring you the results you want.

What are you missing out on?

What are you missing out on?

Life is all about the experience. Most of us have a pretty vast intellectual knowledge of the world. Intellectually we know what’s available to us as human beings, and although most people haven’t got everything they want, they at least have an intellectual knowledge of it. They know what exists, and they know what is available. There is, however, a vast difference between academic knowledge and experiential knowledge.

We all long to experience the objects of our desire. We want to feel and share what we understand by engaging all our senses and nervous systems to comprehend what exists only as impulses in our minds entirely. Knowing isn’t enough. Until and unless you experience something, it will remain an idea and a concept that will always leave you wanting more. Experience is how you turn your intellectual knowledge into a physical experience. It becomes real when you experience it because you get to feel it in your nervous system. You involve your emotions, and, in the process, you get to feel the fullness of a concept turned real and made manifest in reality. You can know yourself to be kind, but the idea will remain intellectual and weak until and unless you do something kind. Only when you take the picture and act on it will you create the experience. Knowing kindness is what you want.

Why Do We Hurt Those We Love Most And How (Part 2)

Why Do We Hurt Those We Love Most And How

We can do this by playing the victim (Oh poor me, look at all that I do, and nobody is grateful! Look how good I am, and still life strikes me with disapproval, disease, and misery! Oh oh!). Or we get attention by being aggressive, shouting, and trying to dominate the other one. A third mechanism is harassing the other one by asking too many questions and controlling him. A fourth system is playing silence, refusing contact, not speaking, and not reacting, so the other will do whatever he can to get in touch with you again, which will give you his energy.

These systems will, of course, make the energy of the other one flow your way. But what next? The other is now low on energy and wants to get his power back. So now, his mechanism is triggered by his lack of energy. He will now use the system that assured him of his parents' point when he was little to get his power back from you. He will either shout at you, either playing the poor one that didn't deserve your treatment, either torture you with a bunch of questions, or refuse contact.

Why Do We Hurt Those We Love Most And How (Part 1)

Why Do We Hurt Those We Love Most And How (Part 1)

Why Do We Hurt Those We Love Most And How To Stop This?

You love each other but can't manage to communicate without arguing, fighting, and ending up exhausted, each one in his corner, trying to lick his wounds and thinking of how to protect oneself against a new attack. And despite that, you love each other? How is this possible? Why do people hurt most those they love?

How come we can express our love? How come we are full of good intentions, but when it comes to reality, we find ourselves again shouting and blaming the other one. And then that monster of guilt jumps out of nowhere to our throat to strangle us once again.

How to stop this infernal behavior?

First, let me explain why this happens.

We all need energy. We need the energy to live and to survive. Power comes in many forms: love, attention, interest, food, friendship, money, approval, recognition.

Alone But Not Lonely

Alone But Not Lonely

In today's fast-paced society, we've become accustomed to filling the eeriness of silence with fluff. We turn to many distractions to escape feelings of idleness or boredom. But the main thing we wish to elude is loneliness. Solitude does not have to be alienating or lonesome. Isolation and loneliness are distinctly separate.

The death of a loved one or the inability to find people who understand you can leave you feeling isolated. Webster's dictionary plainly describes loneliness as being without companions. It's natural to experience an emptiness while longing for love or acceptance. Loneliness is, therefore, an emotional state that can be experienced whether or not one is physically alone.

It was Geoffrey F. Fisher who said, In cities, no one is quiet, but many are lonely; in the country, people are peaceful, but few are lonely.

The Art Of Silence: Meditation Techniques

The Art Of Silence: Meditation Techniques

In today’s fast-paced world, many people seek a way to get away from it all and relax. Meditation, which is essentially a method to obtain a level of deep thought and relaxation, is one way to find inner peace and tranquility. Many think of monks or other spiritual types sitting in crossed-leg positions and reaching states of bliss when they think of mediation, but there are many ways to meditate. While there are many ways to achieve a meditative state, there are no right or wrong ways to meditate (this would defeat the purpose); only practice and find ways that feel right for you.

Meditation is associated with many religions, but one does not need to be associated with any particular religion to meditate. However, you might want to investigate different methods to find a form of mediation that feels most comfortable. One standard way includes repeating a sound or word, called a mantra. Other forms of meditation involve focusing on a visual image, such as the flame of a candle or a symbol. Other meditative techniques involve breathing and physical movements, such as yoga or breathing practices.

The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind

The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind

Scientists say that we only use 10% of our minds. Think about what I just said. We use only 10% of our minds! We are wasting the other 90%. Think of it this way. What if we only used 10% of our salary? Could we survive on 10% of our salary? No way, unless you Bill Gates. What about eating only 10% of the food we make? Wouldn’t that be a waste of food? What if we slept only 10% of 8 hours or 80 minutes a day? Could we survive? What if we had only 10% of the oxygen that was available? Could we survive? The answer to all these questions is a resounding NO!

So why do we put up with using only 10% of our brain? Look at your life. Are you living the life you want? On your terms? Are you happy with what you’ve created, or do you think it could be better? The chances are that you are living to only 10% of your abilities. What if you could make your life 100, 500, or 1,000% better? I can hear you now saying, ”That’s impossible” or “that’s too hard to do.” If you did say that, you’re repeating the same pattern in your life: you are using only 10% of your brain or less.

Become Your Own Relaxation Expert

Become Your Own Relaxation Expert

Meditation has been practiced around the world for thousands of years. It is a technique used to quiet the mind and body and release stress. It can also bring focus and clarity, and often, after meditating, problems that you have been struggling with miraculously become solved. Meditation has also inspired people to write and spur lucrative business ideas as your subconscious comes to light.

One simple form of meditation requires you to sit in a quiet room, either on a pillow, cross-legged on the floor, or in a comfortable chair, making sure your spine is straight. It is advised that you use the same place every day. It is also suggested that you personalize your spot by beautifying it with candles, flowers, and pictures of the people you love.

The idea is to sit quietly, with your eyes closed, and focus on a point inside of your forehead. Try not to think of anything in particular, but don’t try ‘not’ to think either, allowing your mind to become calm and peaceful. If you find that your mind is ‘chattering,’ don’t try to control it; just let it finish what it is working on; it will eventually quiet down. It is also recommended that beginners begin with ten to twenty-minute sessions each day. After doing this, you will start to feel deep relaxation and joy during these sessions.

Why Don't I Look Good In Pictures?

Why Don't I Look Good In Pictures?

Some people don't, and for genuine reasons…

I've been taking professional photographs for about thirty years. Ever since I started, I've heard a constant comment. It is always said something like "I just don't take good pictures" or "the camera just doesn't like me." Almost invariably, when this statement is uttered, everyone within earshot chuckles or immediately starts assuring the speaker that they do look good. Sometimes it's true, but often it's not. Some people do not photograph well it's that simple.

To the best of my knowledge, nobody has ever been able to compose a list of physical features that cause someone to photograph well or photograph poorly. Game show guru Monty Hall believed that the secret was in the size of the head. He insisted that all of the hosts of his shows had large heads. This worked for him. His unmatched success attests to that.

Your Digital Camera Is A Money Maker

Your Digital Camera Is A Money Maker

Can you imagine anyone paying you good money for your photos? No? You know, I had all those photos from a recent trip to Rome, Italy, lying around, and I thought it should be possible to make a few bucks off of them. First, I couldn’t think of a way to market or sell those images, but then I discovered microstock sites.

Microstock sites are great: You register (it’s free) and then upload a few sample images. After your samples pass an initial review, you start uploading and making money.

Let’s look at how this works in detail:

Stock photography

What is stock photography? Imagine someone is creating a website about healthcare. They want a few images of doctors, nurses, operating theaters, and the like to beef it up. Rather than hiring a photographer (sending him on “assignment” as it’s called in the business),

Losing Weight – The Facts

Losing Weight – The Facts

We all want to lose a few pounds and look great, primarily through those summer months, but the average person fails in keeping those pounds off if they lose the weight at all. This is because many people follow the latest “celebrity” diets, which are suitable for quick weight loss but are not good for your health or for keeping the weight off.

It is scientifically proven that if you follow a diet where you lose too much weight too quickly, then you are starving your body of certain nutrients it needs; when you start moving towards eating a regular diet, your body will automatically store these nutrients within the body in case this should happen again.

If you want to lose weight, there are some golden rules you need to follow:

5 Tips to Keep a Marriage Exciting

5 Tips to Keep a Marriage Exciting

The buildup to the wedding is exciting; making arrangements and laying out a plan for your future lives together. But after the honeymoon ends, life begins. And while you may have the most beautiful marriage, even the most devoted couple is sure to find the married lifestyle to be at times, well, let's say, less than exciting. I mean, let's face it, you love the other person, but spending all day with the same individual makes for a lot of routine activities, that if you are not careful, can drag on your relationship and make you both feel unsatisfied with what is otherwise a very loving relationship.

As a result, it is vital that couples not simply sit back in the belief that a marriage will remain exciting merely on its momentum. Instead, spouses must take some basic steps to infuse their relationships with a bit of excitement.

1. Have Independent Interests

Having independent interests is not a sign of a weak marriage, as some newlyweds believe, but rather a sign of its strength. You cannot have anything interesting to say if you spend every waking moment doing and experiencing the same things. Having separate interests means that you have something unique to bring to conversations, ensuring that you both always have something interesting, and yes, exciting, to say to one another.

Yes, You Can Bake It

Yes, You Can Bake It

Even if you’ve never baked before, the rewards of home baking are within your reach. Many recipes for baked goods aren’t at all problematic. Plum-Good Coffee Cake is a prime example. The coffee cake is an excellent way to add more fruit servings to your diet for breakfast, brunch, or a late-night snack, and, best of all, it’s easy to make.

For success, start by gathering all the ingredients and equipment. Let the butter sit at room temperature until it’s soft. This makes it easier to beat the butter with the sugar, so they take in air and form a fluffy, creamy mixture. Adding cold eggs to the creamed butter and sugar could harden the butter again and make the batter curdle. To prevent this, take the eggs out of the refrigerator 20 to 30 minutes before you use them, or put them in a bowl of warm water while you’re assembling the other ingredients.

What is meditation – how to meditate

What is meditation – how to meditate

Meditation is a group of mental training techniques. You can use meditation to improve mental health and capacities and help improve physical health. Some of these techniques are very simple to learn from a book or an article; others require guidance from a qualified meditation teacher.

WHAT IS MEDITATION

Most techniques called meditation include these components:

 1. You sit or lie in a relaxed position.

 2. You breathe regularly. You live deep enough to get enough oxygen. When you breathe out, you relax your muscles so that your lungs are well emptied but without straining.

 3. You stop thinking about everyday problems and matters.

 4. You concentrate your thoughts upon some sound, some word you repeat, some image, some abstract concept, or some feeling. Your whole attention should be pointed at the object you have chosen to concentrate upon.

Online And Working At Home: The New Revolution

Online And Working At Home: The New Revolution

Hey, have you ever found yourself sitting at home opening another bill, checking it against the budget, to see you’ve come up short again for another month? Where does all the money go, or where is it all going to come from, for us to pursue our dreams of living a life above average, above the poverty level?

Work at online home businesses is a positive alternative for the busy, hard-working, but not earning enough 21st-century family, or anyone who has a big enough dream for their life but can’t see far enough ahead to finance it.

You see, 95% of the workforce of the western world never see their dreams fulfilled; they only watch the other 5% through the pages of the tabloids or other media systems and wish above all hope that this could be them one day.

Who Made The First New Year's Resolution?

Who Made The First New Year's Resolution?

What makes people stay up until the wee hours of the morning one night out of the year? My primary objective in life is not to see how late I can stay up but to get up in the morning.

If I can get up each morning, it is a significant accomplishment that I should celebrate with eggs, bacon, and a hot cup of coffee which is about all the celebrating I can handle.

I'm not anxious to see someone drop the ball on New Year's Eve. I do enough of that myself throughout the year, and believe me, nobody cheers.

I am most careful to do each New Year's Day to make out my resolutions for the coming year. New Year's resolutions represent one of the most ancient of human rituals. I say human traditions because it is unknown whether the animal or plant world enjoys such exhilarating patterns. The evidence at this point is inclusive.
